A program of FHE Health in Deerfield Beach, Florida
Treatment for addiction and mental health, with a focus on trauma
True Again Care is a program of FHE Health. FHE Health treats adults with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or both, on one campus in Deerfield Beach, Florida. It has dedicated tracks for first responders and for veterans and service members.
Who we help
Care is for adults. Pick the path that sounds most like you or the person you are worried about.
First responders
For police officers, firefighters, EMS professionals, dispatchers and corrections officers. Trauma, PTSD, substance use and other mental health concerns are treated together. Many of the program's clinicians and counselors have first responder or military backgrounds.
Care for first responders →Veterans and service members
A dedicated branch of the first responder program, with medically supervised detox, residential care, partial hospitalization, outpatient services and aftercare. The treatment team sets the level of care after an evaluation.
Care for veterans →Families
Family and couples counseling, weekly virtual family education groups, and a support group for spouses and partners of first responders. Family members can take part when the patient agrees.
Support for families →Mental health
A program for adults whose main need is mental health care, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD or bipolar disorder, with onsite psychiatric care. You do not need a substance use diagnosis.
Mental health care →Addiction treatment
Medically supervised detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient care for alcohol and drug use. When a mental health condition is also present, both are treated in one plan.
Addiction treatment →Departments, unions and EAPs
How departments, unions, employee assistance programs, peer support teams and chaplains can help a member connect with care, and what can and cannot be shared.
For agencies →What care includes
- Trauma care. For trauma and PTSD, therapies include cognitive processing therapy (CPT), EMDR, exposure therapy and group therapy, often alongside medication and psychiatric care. For context, the VA/DoD guideline for PTSD strongly recommends three trauma-focused therapies: CPT, EMDR and prolonged exposure (PE). More on trauma and PTSD.
- Substance use and mental health together. When both are present, FHE Health treats them at the same time in one coordinated plan. The VA's National Center for PTSD says research shows that treating PTSD and substance use at the same time works.
- Brain-based care. Services such as recordings of brain activity and brain stimulation can be added to your plan when clinically appropriate. They are used alongside therapy and psychiatric care, not in place of them. Research on using these tools for PTSD and addiction is still developing. How brain-based care is used.
- Four levels of care on one campus. Medically supervised detox, residential treatment, partial hospitalization (PHP) and intensive outpatient (IOP) care, all in Deerfield Beach. The same clinical team supports you as you move up or down a level. Compare levels of care.
- Licensed and accredited. The Florida Department of Children and Families licenses FHE Health for substance use disorder services. FHE Health is accredited by The Joint Commission, and CARF accredits several of its adult programs. Check these records yourself.
How getting started works
Calls are answered by FHE Health admissions staff, 24 hours a day. See what happens when you call.
Step 1
Call admissions
Call (833) 596-3502. An admissions counselor spends about 15 to 30 minutes asking about substance use, mental health, medical history and home life. The call is confidential.
Step 2
Check your benefits
Admissions checks your insurance benefits and explains possible out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins. Checking benefits does not commit you to treatment.
Step 3
Clinical assessment
The phone call is a screening, not a diagnosis. FHE Health's licensed clinical staff assess your needs and recommend the level of care that fits.
Step 4
Your treatment plan
Your care team builds a plan around your needs and updates it as your needs change. If FHE Health is not the right fit, admissions can point you toward another provider.
Paying for care
| How you pay | What to know |
|---|---|
| Commercial insurance | FHE Health works with many commercial insurance plans. Admissions checks your benefits and explains possible out-of-pocket costs before treatment begins. |
| TRICARE | FHE Health is a TRICARE-contracted treatment center working with TRICARE East, Select and Prime. Non-emergency inpatient or residential substance use treatment needs preauthorization, and TRICARE may not cover every service FHE Health offers. |
| VA Community Care | FHE Health is a credentialed VA Community Care Network provider for mental health and substance use care. Your VA health care team must approve community care before treatment begins. You cannot self-refer. |
| Self-pay | Available if you do not have insurance or choose not to use it. |
| Medicaid and Medicare | FHE Health does not accept Medicaid or Medicare. SAMHSA's National Helpline, 1-800-662-4357, is confidential and open 24/7. It can point you to your state's office for state-funded treatment, and often to programs that accept Medicaid or Medicare. You can also search FindTreatment.gov. |
