Admissions
What happens when you call
When you call (833) 596-3502, you reach FHE Health's admissions staff, who work on site at the Deerfield Beach, Florida campus. Here is what they will ask, what they check, and what happens if FHE Health is not the right fit.
Who answers the phone
Calls to (833) 596-3502 are answered by FHE Health admissions staff. True Again Care is a program of FHE Health, so the people you talk with work for the provider that would treat you.
FHE Health's admissions counselors take calls 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You can call for yourself or for someone you care about, and you can call just to ask questions.
What happens, step by step
Step 1
You call
Call (833) 596-3502 at any hour. An FHE Health admissions counselor answers and listens to what is going on.
Step 2
A short screening
The counselor asks questions for about 15 to 30 minutes about substance use, mental health, medical history and home life. This is a screening, not a diagnosis.
Step 3
A benefits check
If you plan to use insurance, the counselor collects your insurance details, checks your benefits and explains possible out-of-pocket costs. This does not commit you to treatment.
Step 4
Talking through options
If FHE Health looks like a fit, admissions explains the next steps and helps coordinate your admission. If it does not, they will tell you and point you toward other options.
Step 5
Assessment by licensed staff
FHE Health's licensed medical and clinical staff assess your needs and recommend a level of care, such as detox, residential care, PHP or IOP.
Step 6
Treatment begins
Your care team builds a treatment plan with you. The same clinical team supports you as you move between levels of care.
What admissions will ask about
Honest answers help the team understand what kind of care is safe for you. It helps to be ready to talk about:
- The substances you use and when you last used them
- The medicines you take
- Your medical conditions
- Any past withdrawal, including seizures or severe symptoms
- Mental health concerns
- Your home and family situation
- Your insurance details, if you plan to use insurance
If FHE Health is not the right fit
FHE Health treats adults with substance use disorders, mental health conditions, or both. Not every program fits every person. If FHE Health is not right for your needs, or cost is a barrier, the admissions team will tell you and can point you toward another treatment provider.
FHE Health does not accept Medicaid or Medicare. These public resources are open to anyone:
- SAMHSA's National Helpline. Call 1-800-662-4357. It is a confidential treatment information service, open 24/7 in English and Spanish.
- FindTreatment.gov. Search FindTreatment.gov, SAMHSA's confidential and anonymous locator for mental health and substance use treatment in the United States.
- Florida DCF provider search. Check a Florida provider's license and the services it is licensed to provide.
What to bring
Ask the admissions team what to bring and what to leave at home. It usually helps to have:
- Your insurance card, if you have insurance
- A photo ID
- A list of the medicines you take and their doses
- Contact details for anyone you may want involved in your care, such as family
Your first days
If you need detox, you start with 24/7 medical supervision. FHE Health's detox has three phases: evaluation, stabilization and moving into ongoing treatment. A team of addiction medicine physicians, registered nurses and licensed therapists manages withdrawal, uses medicine when needed and watches for complications.
For qualifying patients, FHE Health uses Suboxone (buprenorphine with naloxone) and Vivitrol (naltrexone) during detox and residential stabilization. Read what happens in medical detox.
After detox, or if you do not need it, you move into the level of care your clinicians recommend. Residential care is a live-in stay with individual and group therapy. See levels of care.
Family can take part when you agree. Once you sign a release of information, your therapist can reach out to your family. Learn more on our page for families.
Common questions about calling
Do I have to decide on the call?
No. You can ask questions, check your benefits and take time to think. Checking your benefits does not commit you to treatment at FHE Health.
Can I call for a family member?
Yes. Admissions staff can talk with you about a loved one's substance use or mental health and explain the options. Our page for families has more.
Is the call a medical assessment?
No. The call is a screening and a benefits check. FHE Health's licensed medical and clinical staff do the full assessment.
How long does the call take?
The screening questions take about 15 to 30 minutes.
Will my employer find out?
FHE Health does not share your treatment details with your employer without your permission, except where the law requires it.
What if I have Medicaid or Medicare?
FHE Health does not accept them. Call SAMHSA's National Helpline at 1-800-662-4357 or search FindTreatment.gov for programs that do. See insurance and TRICARE for other ways to pay.
